Report from latest visit

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all your prayer support. God was with me all the way and the fear I felt at being ‘alone’ in Burma for the first time was unfounded! I had really wonderful times of intimacy with Father and I never felt lonely at all! Praise God! I stayed in Yangon for 10 days and in Mandalay for 2 weeks. This is a brief summary of what happened, but I am willing and able to speak and show photographs anywhere in the UK.

Yangon

  • Went evangelising wth Aung Kyaw Moe; about 14 people, some buddhist, some hindu, gave their lives to Jesus. One of them was an elderly monk!
  • Prayed for a 12 year old girl with Lukaemia. Latest reports say she is improving. Please pray for her; name is Sapila. Also paid for hospital treatment.............£50
  • Bought a field so that new Christians being evicted from their homes can rebuild. Suan has a vision for this to be a place of prayer where God’s presence is tangible. They are calling it Mount Sinai! .......................£500
  • Brought reconciliation between Christians and buddhists in a village by providing rice which the Christians distributed to the whole village. ...........................£250
  • Enabled a couple to move to the delta area and rent a house in which they will care for children orphaned by the cyclone in May.....................£500
  • Provided seed rice for farmers whose livelihood was destroyed by the cyclone ............£200
  • Bought 2 fishing boats and nets for fishermen who lost everything in the cyclone..............£500
  • Simon, who lost his home and his job when he converted from  mormonism was living out of a rucksack, staying in different friends houses. I took him a laptop, and paid rent on an apartment for a year..............£500. He was baptised with the Spirit this time. Pray for him

. I believe he is a modern day Saul of Tarsus.
  •  Innumerable small gifts were given to individuals. Life is difficult for everyone. Everyone is hungry!

Mandalay

  • Taught English in Bible School. 2 receptionists from my hotel came to the classes. One of them came to the church and received prayer. Her name is Nilar, please pray for her.
  • Ko Ye, taxi driver from Feb visit was saved this time! I prayed for his mother-in-law last Feb and she was totally healed from a severe heart problem. She looks 10 years younger!
  • Bought a mattress for an old lady living in appalling conditions, arranged for her to receive regular rice until my next visit in June........................ £100
  • Visited a catholic orphanage gave rice money and bought a wheelchair for a disabled woman who was crawling on the ground. ............................£150
  • Visited 3 churches which had been closed by the authorities. They were meeting as cell groups now. Some of them were living in appalling conditions........................£100 relief work.

I Preached 4 times at “The Paradise Centre”. At the final meeting God moved powerfully. I had loads of words of knowledge. People were healed, delivered from demons, curses broken, etc. I will report on healings after next visit, when they will be confirmed.

Jesus’ instructions are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, provide shelter for the homeless and preach the Good News to the poor. With your gifts  I have done that, and He has healed the sick, saved souls and brought deliverance from demonic oppression. Together, we are the body of Christ and all of us working together make a difference in people’s lives and the Kingdom of God is extended.

Thank you for your prayers and your contributions,

God bless you all,

 Letter before previous visit

In less than two weeks I shall be off to Myanmar again! This time the visit has come as a complete surprise to me! As many of you know the church in Yangon is under a lot of pressure. Christian solidarity worldwide estimate that 80% of churches have been closed in Rangoon in the last month. I vaguely thought that I would like to go and encourage the people I know, but my financial position made this impossible. Then, on Tuesday I had an email from a friend saying she was going  alone to Myanmar on the 3rd of March and that she and her husband felt I should go with her. I expressed an interest, wondering how God would work that one out. I then received a phonecall saying that they felt they should pay my airfare. Within 20 minutes my flight was booked!!! I am now looking forward to seeing  how Jehovah Jireh will supply the rest of my needs, plus money for His saints. All I can say is I know He will!

Prayer points:

  • That everywhere I go,  the love, grace and power of Jesus will will overflow abundantly.
  • In Yangon, that I will be able to meet with all those God wants me to love and encourage in safety and without the local authorities noticing.
  • In Kalaymyu, that I will know which churches to visit, (It has been 18 months since I was there), and that everything God wants to do wll be accomplished.
  • In Mandalay, that relationships will be established and that God will give me vision for future ministry in that city.
  • For my health! My arthritic knees are playing up. I think they will improve naturally away from the snow, but total healing would be appreciated. No stomach upsets! That my feet and ankles won’t swell.
  • For grace for the heat. According to Yahoo weather, temperatures in Yangon are already in the mid nineties. I don’t ‘do’ heat very well and would never choose to go in their summer. However, I am not my own, I’m bought with a price, so I am going!!

Much love and thanks for all your support.

Ps. I have been asked by a few people about making a contribution to this visit. The easiest way is to go onto my website www.matt25v40.org go to donate and pay using paypal.

I am NOT saying “if you sow into this ministry God will repay you a hundredfold”, I am only offering the information should Holy Spirit prompt you to do so.

Report from previous visit

Thank you for your support of the cyclone Nargis victims in Burma. I have now returned and this is how we used the money you gave.

We gathered together 12 of our local friends who we know to be full of compassion and integrity.

We asked 3 questions:

1.       How did the cyclone affect your area?

2.       What have you done already?

3.       What else would you like to  do.?

All of them had been moderately affected in their home areas; they had lost rooves off their houses etc. They all had outreach areas which were poorer than their own where storm damage was much worse; houses destroyed, farm animals lost etc. They had already taken what they had and shared it with their neighbours.

Examples of what they had already given!

·         One man sold 7 of his 9 pigs and used money to repair his own and his neighbours houses and bought rice for distribution.

·         A stock of rice given by me to an elderly couple last march-  enough to last until October, was freely shared out

·         A poor church in Rangoon giving away what they had to help those in worse hit areas.

·         A pastor and wife took in dazed and shocked children who had lost their parents  and loved them. (these were later forcibly removed by the army)

·         Airfare to Malaysia, saved up over years taken to those in the delta area.

Their stories had us in tears and feeling very humbled.

I  distributed all the money I had taken ( £4,000 approximately). The group immediately went into action:

A mechanical rice planter and seeds were bought and delivered to the delta are on Monday 23rd June. Houses in local hard hit areas were repaired or rebuilt. Childrens clothes and toys were distributed to badly hit area. A group went right down to the islands of the coast, the very worst hit area. Nobody else had been there. They rebuilt houses and distributed emergency relief. Mosquito nets, clothes etc were carried into the delta with as much rice as they could carry. 25,000 water purification tablets are currently being taken to places where people are dying from drinking dirty water.

These people will continue to work until they have exhausted the supply of money we gave them. They are constantly in danger in very small boats. If they are spotted by the army their goods will be taken and they will be arrested or shot.

Whatever your part in the giving, your money has done more good and helped more people than you could ever imagine.
